So I was recently in the market for a new camera lens, and I always hunt for good deals on used merchandise.  I was browsing the local photo message forum, and a guy living in my town had a Canon 70-200 f/4 L for sale.  I asked my good buddy, Tony, on what to look out for when inspecting the lens before purchase.  Tony is a great resource on a lot of things, and it’s great that we can share ideas and thoughts.  He came up with a list of 10 things to check before making a used lens purchase.

I will be posting a review of my new lens after I get some time behind the viewfinder.  Stay tuned!

I ran across Chadbee’s blog today and was just amazed at his photography and post processing work. It’s seldom you have a photographer or artist let you in on their secret techniques. Well, Chadbee’s done just that with a recent blog post.

Find out how you can create this photo with multiple captures of the same scene.

Just had to share this link…very cool stuff.  I would love to be able to capture these places on camera with the stories behind them.  Pripyat, Ukraine looks JUST like a map in COD4.

I still consider myself a novice photographer.  When I rented this Canon 70-200 f/2.8, I was afraid that this was way too much lens for me to handle or be able to shoot decent shots with.  My first impressions of this were size and weight.  It’s a very heavy when combined with the weight of my battery gripped Canon 40D.  Lugging it around in a backpack wasn’t bad at first, but as the day and event I was shooting at went on, the weight became very apparent.

The things I like about this lens are the ultra fast focusing and amazing bokeh produced when shooting wide open.  Colors seem much more vibrant also compared to shots with my other lens…maybe it’s all in my head.  Here are a few shots I took at the last Hot Import Nights event held in Austin, TX on September, 18, 2009.

One of my favorite shots with very little post processing.
